During the weeks of January 9 – 27, 2012, Stockdale ISD participated in a fundraiser for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The world’s largest voluntary health organization is dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Every class on all three campuses collected money for the organization. Incentives were offered by holding contests and other fun activities. On each campus, the class that raised the most money will receive a pizza party from LLS. ‘Mr. Legs’ contest was held. StayALERT is a bilingual, confidential website, e-mail, phone and texting avenue for students, teachers, staff, parents and community members to be able to confidentially report unsafe behaviors, suspicious activities, bullying, acts of violence, harassment, and a host of other potential disrupters to school safety. On November 11, 2011, three local veterans and bus drivers, from Stockdale, took time out of their schedule to come speak to the 6th Grade class. They spoke about the importance of our armed forces and told stories about things they experienced while they were serving in the military. Butch Bosanko served 4 years in the U.S. Navy and 16 years in the U.S. Air Force, L.H. West served 5 years in the U.S. Air Force, and finally Terry Carter served 4 years in the U.S. Coast Guard.
